Well apparently no one does blogging anymore in my family and friends never did so maybe this is a good place to vent and no one is the wiser....but then again....you just never know. Some people will try and do anything they can to make it look like you can trust them and just when you do...BAM...they stab you in the back, throw you under the bus...all those other little clever sayings. The worst part...they probably know what they are doing and don't even care. Kind of sociopathic isn't it? It mainly shows their insecurities. If they only really knew that everyone else is onto them and eventually it will all catch up with them and it could cost them a lot!

Apparently blogs are a thing of the past...two years since my last post. So what will I blog about? Today I had my first Pinterest fail when trying a recipe out. Of course the picture always looks great that's posted but in the directions after letting the chicken breasts cook in the crock pot for three hours it says you can keep them whole or take them out and cube them. Well it ends up being shredded chicken instead. It tasted OK but since it didn't look like what the picture did it didn't impress me much.

Does anyone blog anymore?

Hunkered down on the counch and watching me some Hawaii 5-0....love that show! Getting ready this weekend for a girls get together. Gonna do a taco bar, have some meatballs and cocktail wieners and lots of other munchies. Of course there are always some games to play also but the highlight will be the ugly sweaters that hopefully that everyone will be wearing.

Apparently nobody blogs anymore?

Apparently the world of Facebook has taken over and Blogging has become a thing of the past. Well I shall continue on...you never know when someone may take a peek and see what one has been up to. The last entry was last February so what has the last year brought? As usual it seems to be consumed with work. Of course with the radio station when spring arrives it is busy with Senior Nights and when summer hits it is consumed with parades...usually 7 of them no less and I believe I made it to each and everyone of them. During the summer last year my friend Belinda and my grand-niece Brenna came along to Moondance Jam in Walker, MN. The highlight of that was standing right up front for when KISS performed. We stood in the same spot for over 5 hours but it was worth it!!! The weekend after Labor Day Belinda, Jodi and I spent the weekend in Northfield for Defeat of Jesse James Days. Watched the re-enactment of when his gang came to town and robbed the bank, did a little shopping, went on a ferris wheel ride and went to the rodeo. Even though hotel we stayed at screwed up our reservation we still had a great time. In September it was time for the 25 year class reunion. Jill, Matt and I stayed in a hotel in Stillwater and met Mary and Lance at a Vineyard and enjoyed some wine and cheese and crackers before heading off to our dinner cruise/reunion. The next day went to the Vikings game with Jill and Matt and stayed in the cities that night too. Had a great time that weekend. Actually made it to 3 Vikings games that year...looking forward to another season of football. End of December I decided to quit my part-time job at Hidden Creek. I had been there almost 6 years but decided it was time to focus on one job, even though financially it would be a little bit of a struggle, but there were so many things I wouldn't get to do or have to re-arrange my schedule just to go do things. Winter of 2012 was pretty slow but last night went to the Surf Ballroom with a couple of friends to see Buckcherry and had a great time! We actually ended up getting our picture taken with Josh Todd the lead singer from Buckcherry. Am looking forward to a fabulous summer which will start off with my grandnieces Alexis, Molly and Meagan staying with me for a few days. Two 7 year olds and a 4 year old along with a dog should be fun none the least. Til the next posting....

Rick Springfield concert

Yes...I got to meet Rick Springfield! 80's icon known for singing Jessies Girl and playing Dr. Noah Drake on General Hospital for a few years. My friend Belinda and I got our tickets to his concert at the end of August. In January I was talking with the promoter for the concert and he was going to give us two tickets and backstage passes for a contest give away on Power 96. I had told him previously in other conversations that I already had tickets to the concert and since I am helping to promote Ricks concert in Rochester on our station and running ads and getting an interview with Rick if I could get two backstage passes also. He said "Sure" I couldn't believe it! We had a blast and Rick was super nice...even though you don't get to stand next to him for too long but he was. I even got him to sign his autobiography that I bought. Now...what will the next concert be that I go to?

Yeah....Fall!

I absolutely Fall weather! If the weather stays the way it is it will be perfect weather for staining/sealing my deck this weekend. Already started on a litte bit of it and the worst part is going to be all the spindles. My friend Belinda is coming to help on Saturday so hopefully then it won't take very long.

Fall

My favorite season of the year is almost here!

I absolutely love fall weather. The air is fresh, crisp and clean. You can have windows open all day and get a lot of fresh air moving through the house and nothing is better than having candles lit and baking homemade apple pie.

The sad part...after that means snow on the ground and even colder weather!

Vikings Game

Andrea and I went to the Minnesota Vikings August 28. Had a fun time. I won two tickets to the game through work and it included passes to a reception in Halsey Hall where they had free food and drinks. Also met Ragnar and Viktor the Vikings Mascots.

There is always the few outrageous fans that show up.

Our seats were on the lower level in the end zone in row 34. Went to Huberts afterwards and had a beer until the lines for the light rail train dwindled down.

Summer is slowly fading away...

It seems that the summer has once again flown by and is over in the wink of an eye, The Freeborn County Fair started today and really haven't decided if I am going to go or not. The only one I would be interested in would be George Jones on Friday night. After that it is KISS at the State Fair...the official end of summer.

Where did the summer go?

Hard to believe that the Freeborn County Fair is only a couple of weeks away and that means summer is almost over.

About the only summer vacation I got was going to Moondance Jam in Walker, MN which was absolutely fabulous!!! Spent the weekend of July 16 - 18 and got to see some pretty great bands from Buckcherry, Pat Benetar, Cinderella a few others in between to Lyndrd Skynrd closing out the whole weekend with an awesome show! Hoping to make it there next year also.

Gonna end the summer on what should be a good note though. Going to go see KISS at the Minnesota State Fair September 4th with Belinda and then possibly go to The Renaissance Fair on the 5th. Looking forward to that!

Hope everyone else is having a good summer and having fun.

Hoping everyone had a great 4th of July weekend. Austins parade ended up going on even thought there was rain. They only cancel if there is a threat of lighteneing, hail, torrential downpour or tornadoes. Went over to Greg and Annas later in the afternoon and shot off fireworks later that night.

4TH OF JULY

Hope everyone has a Happy 4th of July!!!!

Have two parades this weekend...one in Albert Lea tonight at 6pm and tomorrow in Austin at 11am. Hoping the rain stays away for at least a couple of days so it doesn't rain on our parades.

Memorial Day

memorial day

Hope everyone had a safe and fun Memorial Weekend and took the time to remember those who gave their lives for their country...I think too many times the real meaning of this weekend is forgotten in between the boating and barbeques. It is because of them that we have the freedom to do the things we enjoy everyday.

K9 Demonstration

Took Alexis to the Northbridge Mall for the K9 Demonstration put on by an officer from the Blooming Prairie Police Department and a Deputy from the Freeborn County Sheriff's Office.

Chaos demonstrating how they attack a suspect

Alexis with Officer Lang and Crux

Alexis with Deputy Bennett and Chaos

They mainly wanted to demonstrate that the dogs aren't mean. They know how to differeniate between "work" and "play". Both were very friendly and the kids loved going up and petting them.

Last Song

Went and saw Last Song tonight with my friend Teresa. Movie was pretty but I must be about the only person who hasn't read the book because everyone else has and said the book was better. When a book is made into a movie the book is always better.

Have been using the grill quite a bit. Really love having it and a deck to sit on and enjoy the weather.

Not a whole lot else going on. Need to find some more exciting things to write about.

Spring is finally here!

I love Springtime! The fresh air and finally being able to hang things outside to dry and freshen up. YES! I love Spring!

Power 96 and KQAQ had the Austin Home and Vacation Show the weekend of March 19 - 21 and it was a success again this year. for the first time we decided to charge $1 admission for 12 years of age and older, younger than that got in free. Some people complained but we got rid of the trick-or-treaters and bottom feeders. The ones who are only there for the free stuff. A lot of vendors said that there was a real QUALITY crowd versus QUANTITY crowd. Many of them had some very strong leads even by the end of the first night. One of the vendors that I had persued and came to the show was a lady that sold jewelry - Fifth Avenue Collection. Picture of new ring below.

Plus I am able to use my new grill that I purchased. It is an electric one (Thank you auntie for helping me put it together) and have already used it twice. Won't have to worry about keeping the drip cup clean or if any drip on the base of the grill...

as Sierra licks the base and somehow manages to get her nose under the grill and licks the drip cup clean. Has also figured out how to remove it and take it with her.

Looking forward to Easter this weekend with the family and enjoying some nice spring weather.

Any whoo....

Really don't have a lot to talk about. Getting ready to celebrate Belinda's 50th birthday next weekend. I'll just leave it at that for now.

Want the snow to go away!
