Happy New Year

Hope everyone has a fantastic New Years! I suppose I could list off what resolutions I am going to make but one of my resolutions is to not make resolutions.

Don't have to big of plans for New Years. Have to work full time job 8 to 5...part time job 5 to 8 and then going to Belindas and play Wii. Then have to work partime job New Years day 1130am to 8pm but have weekend off. Going to Steph and Gary's on Saturday to get together like we would have on Christmas Day and celebrate Gary's birthday a little early.

Happy New Year!

Christmas Season

Already have two family Christmas's down and that is pretty much it until Christmas Eve when we get together at Mom's for our annual Christmas Eve dinner and roped into going to Christmas Eve Church Services...I believe there may be a few birthdays in between that also. Also have Meagan's 2nd birthday party to go to on the 19th. Have a feeling 2010 is going to be here faster than we know.

Had a wonderful Thanksgiving Dinner at Aunties. Mom, Steph, Gary, Eric, Phil and Nikki were there and played a mean game of CLR after dinner. Hope everyone else had a wonderful day....and if you are planning on getting up in the middle of the night to go shopping...have fun!

KISS Concert

The KISS concert was absolutely amazing...even BuckCherry wasn't too bad. Belinda and I stayed at The Westin in downtown Minneapolis and it was very nice and very close to the Target Center. Only took 10 minutes to walk there.

KISS did the usual classic songs with fire and pyrotechnics, Gene spit fire and drueled blood and there was confetti all over the place during Rock and Roll All Nite. Hoping they tour again before they hit the nursing home curcuit.

Three more days....

Three more days til the KISS concert at the Target Center in The Cities!!!! Excited!!!

The last couple of weeks in bowling we have lost our mojo...don't know what's going on. Hopefully we will be able to pick up the pace. We were in first place a few weeks ago and this last week we were in fourth. Need to concentrate more and remember...body straight, down the middle, follow through.

New Deck

This is my new deck. Little smaller than I wanted but will be a lot better than the piece of crap steps I used to have. At least now in the summer I can sit outside and enjoy the weather. The furniture I got from the neighbors before they moved. For $75 I got three chairs, glass top table and an umbrella (not in picutre...will get put up next spring) Only two of the chairs (one is a love seat) fit on the deck so I told the new neighbors if they would like one of the chairs they could have one..figured that's the least I could do since they are letting me keep a few of my things in their shed...and I work with Eleesha at Hidden Creek. Yep..one of my co-workers now lives right next door.

Brenna and a few of her friends are coming on Friday night for a Halloween Slumber party and they want to watch Halloween...the one Rob Zombie did a few years ago. Should be interesting.

Bowling

Well this year I am starting bowling off a lot better than I was last year. As long as I remember to keep my body straight I can usually get it down the middle and away from the gutters. As long as I break 100 each game I am happy.

Not too much going on. This weekend is my weekend off so I will probably spend it cleaning and putting up fall decorations...haven't done that yet. I also have a purse party to go to on Saturday night at my friend Jodi's. She booked off of my party so I get to go to hers and get a free purse...as if I need more...but you can never have enough purses, right?

I will also try to take pictures of the new deck if it is nice and post here also.

Happy Brett Favre Day!

That's what I put on the card I made for my friend Cindy that I used to work with at Hormel. Today is Brett Favre's 40th birthday and when I worked at Hormel she used to bring cupcakes in to share with the two other Packer fans that were in QC..there was usually enough for all of us that sat together though.

So I made a card with Brett's picture on the front of it and sent it to her in honor of Brett Favre day and on the inside made a note that a letter was sent to the Green Bay Packer's organization that she was willingly relinquishing her rights as a Packer fan and proudly becoming a Vikings Fan. I also had put in there that she had been nominated to sing the Vikings Cheer song during halftime at their next home game.

Luckily she has an awesome sense of humor...she took it to work to show all the guys in shipping...who really enjoyed the card.

Oh well, that's it. HAPPY BRETT FAVRE DAY!

Bowling League

It's that time of year again...BOWLING LEAGUE!!! I must say for the first night I don't think I did too bad. 109, 138 and 104. As long as I break a 100 and keep telling myself..."body straight, down the middle, follow through"...I can do okay. Hopefully the scores will keep improving. I will now add the gadget to my blog so you can see my weekly scores.

New Cell Phone

Went into UNICEL yesterday to pay my phone bill and asked them if they had any deals on phones. They had a deal that if your contract was going to expire and you signed up for another two years you received $100 off a new phone. SWEET! So I got a new phone...for free! I have a Motorola Q9C (it's a little bit bigger phone that has an actual keyboard on the bottom...makes texting a lot easier!) I also have Internet access, takes pictures and videos...it's a pretty sweet phone.

Nothing else to say!

Not too much to talk about

Haven't been too busy lately. Getting ready for a new year of bowling league to start next week, have a wedding this weekend, and Power 96/KQAQ Halloween Carnivals at the end of October. Brenna and some of her friends are going to come over the night of the 30th for a Halloween Slumber Party. They want to watch the remake of Halloween from a couple of years ago.

KISS Concert

52 days until KISS will be at the Target Center....Whoop Whoop! My friend Belinda and I are going. Tickets go on sale at 10AM this Saturday and I already have reservations at The Westin in downtown Minneapolis. My contact there gave us an oversized room with two double beds for $69 and is taking care of the valet parking for us also. I think it's called an oversized room cuz it's on a corner and has more room. They are my account at the station (I have them on auction) and the certificates we have on auction are worth $119 so we got a really good deal. Never know...this could really be their last tour...but they've been doing last/farewell tours since 1999.

Halloween II

Belinda and I went and saw this movie tonight. Amazing how much of a movie you can see through the fingers on your hand in front of your face...or your sweatshirt pulled up to your eyes. Everytime I hid behind my hand or sweatshirt or shrieked, her and I would end up giggling.

Been playing around with the blog...

Saw another blog that had these backgrounds and thought they wer really neat so I checked it out and was really easy to change them. Plus they have different styles for the seasons and time of year.

I should really be cleaning and doing laundry but I have all day Monday to do some of that. It is my weekend to work at Hidden Creek which means I won't be getting any of that done since I work from 1130am to 800pm. Tomorrow night after work Belinda and I are going to go see Halloween II. We saw the first one that Rob Zombie did of the original and it was pretty good...scarier than the original I think.

Other than that not a whole lot else going on. I am really liking the weather and Autumn is my favorite season so I enjoy having the windows open and getting some fresh air in the house.

Til next blog post...later peeps!

My Deck

I am finally getting a deck built..nothing to big..6' x 12'. My friend is building it for me. He was generous enough to let me pay him in installments so hopefully by end of month it should almost be complete. Just will have railing left to do. Once finished will put pics on here. Neighbors next to me are moving at the end of the month and they asked if I would like to buy their patio furniture and umbrella for $75. Couldn't pass it up. Still in decent condition and even if I went to Home Depot or Wal-Mart at the end of summer to look for something on discount...I would not be able to find anything that cheap. At least it is something to start with.

MN Zoo Trip

Took Brady and Alexis to the MN Zoo August 29th and had a really good time. Got to feed a giraffe, which was pretty cool, because I will probably never be that close to an animal like that again.

Pics are in post below.

Went to the Vikings game with my friend Jeff and his son Zane. My bestest friend ever (Jill)said the people that were going to use them weren't able to and asked if I wanted to go. So of course I said YES!!! Got there just in time to hear the National Anthem and kickoff. As soon as Brett Favre took to the field the dome exploded cheering for him. A few of the pictures might be blurry cuz I was cheering at the same time and didn't realize I was probably moving the camera. Hope to make it to another game this year!

This weekend

The weekend, like every other weekend, goes by way too fast! I worked yesterday at Hidden Creek for Coryn and she is working for me next Saturday as I have a bridal shower to go to.

Today I went to Wells as Power 96/KQAQ were in the Wells Kernel Days Parade.

Other than that the rest of the day I am going to attempt to finish laundry and some cleaning.

Freeborn County PRCA Rodeo

Yesterday was the second annual PRCA Rodeo at the Freeborn County Fair. Tons of people showed up, Jerry and I fromt he radio station got to be a part of the crew to carry in the US Flag and once again took some great actions shots (see in post below). Later that night Belinda and I went to see Travis Tritt and didn't even think to bring along my camera. If they plan on doing the rodeo again next year, I highly recommend going. Great family entertainment.

Friday, August 07, 2009

Finally have one night off...

I worked the last four nights at Hidden Creek so I have gotten nothing done. Luckily the place isn't too bad. Just have a chance to start some laundry, straighten up and rest for tomorrow as I will be at the Fair since KQAQ is one of the sponsors of the Freeborn County Fair PRCA Rodeo. I get to be one of the flag holders (it's a huge flag) while they play the national anthem. I will hopefully get some pictures of the rodeo on here like I did last year. Going to finish my glass of wine now.

Hmmmm.....

Really don't have a whole lot to blog about.

Last weekend was our 19th Annual Womens Weekend. We were supposed to go to Lanesboro and stay the whole weekend there but with Gary still recovering from his accident and then Jim L. having a little medical issue I made the executive decision to cancel the reservations and we would just stay local. Sue came down Thursday night and stayed at my place for the weekend. She managed to get into Clarks Grove just as I was getting off work from Hidden Creek so we decided to hit The Bulldog for a drink...that lasted three hours! Had a blast!

On Friday we checked out the crazy day sales in Albert Lea at the Northbridge Mall and downtown Albert Lea. Found some good deals. Had supper at Aunties that night, then a had a little bonfire and a fireworks show. The weather was so cold that we had on sweatshirts and were under blankets. I believe the temp was 53 degrees.

On Saturday we drove to Lanesboro for the day and had lunch at the Das Wurst Haus. good food and entertainment..the owner and his wife play the concertina and piano while you eat. Went off in our own little groups (Sue and I in one direction everyone else the other way). We found some interesting items, stopped for a cocktail, did some more shopping, had an ice cream cone and met back at the van to head home. Had supper at aunties again and another little bon fire. Sunday morning we went to church and had brunch at Aunties.

Last night went to my friend Carols boyfriend place as they were having a little get together. It was an early birthday party for him. Took a picture of this little guy who was trying to figure out how to use the tap on the keg and had a picture of Carol and I together.

Other than that not a whole lot. Getting ready to see Jim and Sharon next weekend for the 50th Wedding Anniversary Party at Paty & Tammy's.

Never enough time

Why is it there seems to never be enough time to get things done. Sorry Sue but you are going to have to stay in a dusty house...won't have time to get that done before tomorrow night. After working 13 hours between two jobs I get home and just don't have the ambition to clean. I won't be able to this weekend as it is Womens Weekend and will be busy with that...plus I have laundry to do! It will get done...just not when I want it to get done.

Had a great weekend!

Ended up having the 4th of July weekend off at Hidden Creek so I was able to have some fun this weekend.

Started off that since we have enough employees with the radio station we were able to split up and do two parades on Saturday. A majority of the group went to the Austin parade and Jerry, Ron and I went to Blooming Prairie where I saw Phyllis and Pat and gave them a big handful of candy and saw Nikki and Philip and gave her a "Philip" Swatter with the Power 96 Logo on it. After the parade went to Belinda's and had some grilled chicken, hot dogs and potato salad (and beers)and since it rained we skipped the fireworks and went straight to Eddie's Bar. We could hear the fireworks outside but decided to keep drinking our beverages. My friend Jeff showed up and joined us for drinks and then Ron and his wife showed up also. They always have kaoroke so we got to hear some people sing well...some not so well. One girl sang Smooth Criminal by Michael Jackson while another guy was dancing all over the place like he was Michael...and actually was pretty good. He got a roar of applause when he was finished. Closed the bar up at 2am, dropped Belinda off at home and I came home and crashed. Sunday all I did was laundry and relax before a week filled with work, work, work!

Hope everyone had a fun and safe 4th of July weekend!

Fun in June

I know it's been awhile since I have blogged so I figured I should at least let you know what I have done for June so far...not a whole lot.

First I had a retirement party for a former worker when I was at Hormel. Phil Selmecki retired after 42 years there. He and I shared an "office" my last two years there and our favorite saying was "The Peking Duck Flys At Midnight"...that was code for when our Chinese QC Engineer Feng was coming through. If someone saw her they would call us to let us know then we would leave the office so she couldn't find us. Drove her nuts she could never find us, yet when she said we weren't there we told her "I saw you by the East Line around 1030, didn't know you were looking for me." She never caught on. Anyways, got to see quite a few people I hadn't seen since I left.

The other thing was Kelli and Molly came down and spent the weekend here with Alexis and I and we partook in a Pirate and Princess Cruise on the Pelican Breeze on the 20th. After that we went to Alden Morin Lake Days and they walked in the Power 96 unit for the Parade and then we watched fireworks behind Grandmas apartment.

Pictures from retirement party and Princes weekend are below.

Other than that not a whole lot new. I shall try to be better at blogging

Remembering Michael Jackson

Love him or hate him, no matter how eccentric he was or the problems he faced....the guy was a genius in the music and video industry. I can remember being glued to MTV (back when it was actually playing videos all day) when Thriller came out...and anytime he came out with a new video. He was the icon for my generation as Elvis was for the previous generation and will always remember where and what you were doing when you heard about it. Maybe now he will have peace...now everybody try to Moonwalk.

Don't you just love it!

After work was done at radio station went to Hidden Creek to write down schedule for June...picked up a few extra hours and now on my weekends to work I work Saturday and Sunday 11am to 7pm...LOVE IT!!!!!

Then went to Hy-vee to get groceries and after spending $110 I actually left with groceries. Usually if I go to Wal-Mart and spend that there isn't very many groceries...more of "ooh, I need that...ooh, I could use that" I also ended up getting to save 23 cents off a gallon at Hyvee gas because I also purchased some gas busters and had the convenience of drive up to have the grocery boy put the bags in the trunk....LOVE THAT TOO!

Then when I got home my gardener had mowed my lawn, trimmed around the house and inside Sierra's kennel...REALLY LOVE THAT cause I REALLY hate mowing lawn. Okay...gardener is just one of the neighbor guys who just really likes mowing lawns. Give him some money every now and then for gas and I don't have to worry about mowing.

Gonna finish my beer and watch a movie.

Up North

Just got back a little while ago from spending the past 3 1/2 days at mom's trailer. Took Alexis along and she had a lot of fun.

Friday night we went to a fish fry where we told her they make fish shaped fishsticks..she says she doesn't like the fish that comes from the water. It must have worked cuz she said the fish was good and she almost all of it. Kelli, Molly and Meagan stopped by the trailer to visit for a little while before heading to Sue and Maurices.

On Saturday morning she helped make breakfast...she sliced potatoes and twirled the eggs...and in the afternoon she helped Grandma plant sunflower seeds, sweet corn and do a few other objects around the trailer.

On Sunday we went to Sue and Maurices and Molly and Alexis spent the whole afternoon playing and "fishing"..Molly has a fishing pole with a pink fish on that you cast in the water. Andrea sat on the dock with them for about an hour and a half fishing and just hanging their feet in the water. After getting home about 7:30 pm we made a campfire, had s'mores and sang some songs.

Got up this morning and by 9am we were on the road heading home. Stopped in Owatonna for lunch and got home about 1pm.

I could crawl into bed and sleep until morning but have to work at Hidden Creek at 5pm.

Happy Memorial Day!

What I have done lately?....

Not a lot.

Had a Diva Girl Purse Party this weekend and it went really well. I had over $600 in sales so I got to get a couple of purses. I also purchaed a couple of necklace/earring sets she had. some of the girlfriends stayed afterwards and we finished off some more margaritas and played the games Dirty Minds and Pictionary...which then became Dirty Pictionary. Had a really good time. Not much else going on. Going to finish my margarita and go to bed.

2007 Chevrolet Impala LT

The car was checked over first by Gary who gave the thumbs up and it passed riding comfort from Steph, Grandma and Auntie. I decided to take a few pictures to show everyone. Thought it was white at first but I think it's more of a pearl color...especially after it was parked next to a white car and mine looked a little darker.

So this would be the front....
and this would be the back
bucket seats, cloth interior, keyless remote with automatic start....will love this come wintertime
the back seat....
that has seats that fold down.
It gets really good gas mileage, rides very smooth and you don't realize how fast you are going until you look at the speedometer...thank god for cruise control.

Kinda forgot about the blog

I have been doing so much Facebooking I tend to forget about the blogging.

Had a really good time at Steph and Gary's for Easter last weekend. Could not have asked for more beatiful weather.

Today I went back and got another spray on tan and mom went with and did one also.

Other than that, the car died and now looking for a replacement...have one in mind at Trading Post in Gordonsville that has passed Gary's inspection.

Rest of weekend will be working at Hidden Creek.

Bowling Banquet at Diamond Jo's Casino

My bowling league had our yearly banquet at Diamond Jo's Casino tonight. Depending on how your team does the more money you split at the end of the year. My team ended up winning the most games so the four of us got to split $123. Not too bad. They also handed out patches for those who had games over 160 and 200. I got a patch as I had a game of 167...but of course I went through that slump of where I couldn't throw the ball straight or hit the pins if they were five feet in front of me, so I also ended up getting prizes for the lowest score and lowest series. Of course I am playing on a league with people who have been bowling for years so I think I still did pretty good as a first time leaguer.

We also received Diamond Jo cards with $10 on and got to play slots. Of course I lost mine within five minutes.

Our fall meeting is September 30th and league starts again on October 7th. I do not plan on winning the low game, low series prize next year.

Bowling is over for the year

Well bowling league is over for this year and The Country Cuties came in second. We had a roll off tonight against the winner of the first half of the season (we won the second half) and they won two of the three games. Each game was close though...within about 20 pins. Of course I first had to pull an April Fools joke. I showed up wearing an arm sling and told them that I had a little too much to drink and a friends party this last weekend (truth) and we decided to try out their trampoline and I fell off and cracked my elbow (not true) Every single one believed me so I was getting a my own little pity party until we officially started bowling. I got up for my turn...turned around and took the sling off and said April Fools! They really enjoyed it. Next Wednesday is our banquet at Diamond Jo's in Northwood.

Thinking of doing a summer league.

Bowl Off

Well my bowling team is in first place for the second half of the league season and next Wednesday night we have a "bowl off" to determine who the official winner is. I say we have a pretty good chance cuz the team we bowl next week is the team we bowled tonight and we won 2 of the 3 games. Wish us luck!

Austin Home and Vacation Show

Power 96 had the Austin Home and Vacation Show this weekend at the Riverside Arena. I was there Wednesday, Thursday and Friday all day helping Anna do all the floor measuring and getting the booths set up for the exhibitors plus being there when they were coming in and setting them up. Concrete floors are not the best thing for walking on for three straight days. Also there during Saturday and Sunday. Brought Lucas and Alexis for a little bit on Sunday and Lucas tried out the race car simulator and him and Alexis had their pictures taken with Captain Jack Sparrow.
Lucas in the race car simulator....sits about as high as some the little old ladies in their cars
racing around the track displayed on a flat screen tv

Winters Not Over

Apparently Mother Nature is going to give us one more taste of winter. AAGH!!!!! We've had snow since November and I'm sick of it. Just want some nice warm spring days so I can open up windows and freshen the place up.

Went out for supper tonight at Pizza Ranch with Tricia and the 4 V's. Alexis ate everything from the salad bar cuz when she eat pizza she picks everything off the top and eats just the crust part with sauce. She loves lettuce, potato and macaroni salad. Had a little bit of mashed potatoes and mac-n-cheese. The rest of us gorged on pizza.

Not really looking forward to what they supposedly say tomorrow is going to be like. Hopefully bowling won't be cancelled.

All for now...later peeps!

Not much news

Not a whole heck of a lot going on. Last Saturday was Molly's birthday party and Alexis and her pretty much got into the dress up clothes once we got there. We left about 730 or so and figured she would be out like a light. WRONG! She stayed awake until just outside the Cities. We told stories and sang songs pretty the whole way there. Tonight she was at Grandma Bettes for awhile and supposedly they were playing beauty shop. Alexis was doing her hair and putting makeup on her. Just waiting for all this snow to melt so we can have some nice spring weather.

Saturday, February 21, 2009

AAAGGGH! SNOW!!!

Great more snow! I am really sick of snow already. Hopefully it won't accumulate too much. Mom and Auntie will be here around noon today to pick up Alexis and I to head to Josh and Kelli's in Cokato for Molly's 4th Birthday Party. Hope the roads will be okay.

Bowling with Auntie today

Grandma and Auntie met Brenna, Alexis and I at Holiday Lanes this afternoon and went bowling. Grandma didn't bowl because of her back so she was on the sidelines cheering. Was a fun way to spend a few hours together in the afternoon. Afterwards went to Pizza Hut for supper.

Debbie's 50th Birthday

Mary, Belinda and I took Debbie out for her birthday supper tonight at Applebees. While Belinda went to pick her up I went to Hyvee to get the black carnations that Belinda ordered and Mary and I got a booth while waiting for them to get there. They finally got there and when the waitress came to get our orders she asked Debbie if she would like to see the Senior Citizen menu. God it was great...okay I told her to say that so she I gave her a little extra in her tip. She opened her cards and of course one of them I got her was a sympathy card along with a Hoops and Yo-Yo card who shout out Happy Birthday and then say "shhhh!...elderly person keep it down." The waitress took our orders and of course we all gave Debbie crap and told her that they could puree her food if neccessary...but the best was when she got her steak one her sides that she ordered was applesauce. Mary, Belinda and I busted out laughing...I guess you had to be there. Of course a birthday dinner at Applebees can't be finished until they loudly announce that it's someones birthday. They did that for Debbie along with saying it was her 50th. Ended up being a fun night!

Not much going on

Not much going on to blog about. Yesterday my energy level was zilch...at 8o'clock last night I felt I could have crawled into bed and fall asleep before my head hit the pillow. I know one of my biggest weaknesses is staying up too late during the week and then trying to get out of bed in the morning is sometimes nearly impossible.

This is my weekend to work at Hidden Creek so by Monday morning, once again I will be exhausted and it will take everything I have to get out of bed because when I get home, I can't get to sleep right away. I need to train myself to do that.

Sunday, February 01, 2009

Lunch at Grandmas

After sunday school today Brenna, Alexis and I went to Grandma Bette for Oyster Stew, (or milk soup as Alexis called it) Auntie also came down and for dessert we had the double layer cake I made...pink cake with white frosting, red sprinkles and candy hearts all over it. After that we played some cards. Now I am home trying to get the laundry done.

New look for pre-school

The shorter the dress the higher the heels. Actually, it's just a shirt but she said it was a dress and she is wearing my high heeled black shoes cause she liked the clicky noise they make on the floor. She is getting ready to go to school.
